Beauty Therapy level 3 qualification consists of units of learning that an individual must achieve to enable him/her to provide beauty therapy services and comprises of providing manicure and pedicure services, make-up services, body art services and head and shoulder massage services.
The Units of Competency comprising Beauty Therapist Level 3 qualification include the following:
1. Manicure and Pedicure Services
2. Make-Up Services
3. Body Art Services
4. Head and Shoulder Massage Services
5. Industrial Attachment
Field attachment
An individual enrolled in this course will undergo a field attachment for a period of 300 hours in a Beauty Therapy establishment.
Entry Requirements
An individual entering this course should have any of the following minimum requirements:
a)Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE)Or
b) Equivalent qualifications as determined by Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA)
And/or
c) As may be guided by relevant regulatory body
Assessment
The course will be assessed at two levels:
a)Internal assessment: conducted continuously by the trainer (internal assessor) who is monitored by an accredited internal verifier.
b)External assessment: conducted by an accredited external assessor who is monitored by an accredited external verifier.
The assessors and verifiers are accredited by TVET CDACC which also coordinates external assessment.
Certification
An individual will be awarded a Certificate of Competency on demonstration of competence in a Unit of Competency. To be awarded a National Certificate in Beauty Therapy Level 3, an individual must demonstrate competence in all the Units of Competency. These certificates will be awarded by TVET CDACC in conjunction with the Macmillan University College
